Welcoming Fall in New England

With the breezy trees blowing in cold air, sweater season is fast approaching. With a stylish scarf and light jacket or a baseball cap with a sweatshirt, one can still enjoy a road trip during the Fall months. Living in New England, there are so many places to visit!

Over the past 4 years, since meeting my husband, we have visited different parts of Maine and all over Massachusetts and soon will be visiting Vermont. Portland Maine has cobbled streets, cute bookshops, historic lighthouses, and lots of great restaurants. Although my feet got sore from all the walking, I loved my visit to Portland in Fall 2022. This historic city is 45 min from Old Orchard Beach and an hour from Sebago Lake in Maine, so lots to do the Central Maine area. Portland is only a couple hours from Boston, a beautiful drive for any MA folks looking for a weekend day trip.

Late August 2023, upon the urging of my husband, I went up Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. With a picnic basket in the back seat, up we went to the very top of the high mountain. It was very high at the top so we celebrated making it to the top by going to an aquarium. The aquarium is next to Story Land, a well-known amusement park for kids in New England. At this aquarium, I got to see birds and different ocean animals in an indoor environment. The aquarium is called Living Shores Aquarium, and is well worth a visit the next time you are in the White Mountains.

Fall 2025, it will be time for more road trips – a weekend in Ogunquit (Maine) and a weekend in Stowe (Vermont). Stay tuned for updates on those travels.
